I believe forgiveness is earned, and it’s something truly worth fighting for.

My entire life was consumed by gangs, drugs, parties, and living a fast-paced lifestyle. But now, I am a father of four, and the love I feel when I think of them drives me every single day. I am working hard not to let them down any more than I already have. I believe forgiveness is earned, and it’s something truly worth fighting for. To those I have hurt in my past, I am deeply sorry. I will forever apologize and strive to better my life and myself. May God walk with you and love you.

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
