I have never felt better about myself than I do right now. Being here at San Quentin allowed me to correct my old thinking patterns. I’m a mentee in the Youth Offender Program and seven other self-help groups and enrolled in Mount Tamalpais College.
I first heard about Humans of San Quentin through Alex Ross, your poetry director here, and I was immediately interested. One goal of mine is to give back to the society I took so much from. My main goal is to help troubled youth. I know that’s where it all starts because it is where it began with me. Outside of my self-help group, I love playing basketball. I have included a picture of me and my teammates on The San Quentin Warriors Basketball Team.
I am in the second year of a 15-year sentence to life sentence.
Darius! Haven’t stopped praying for you since we saw each other at the God Behind Bars event last week! Believe in you and know that Jesus has good plans for you and your life. Keep following him and seeking him above everything else!
I hope you see this soon! I’d also like to figure out how I can send you and Trayveon (I know I’m probably spelling it incorrectly!!) letters!
