I am not just a number in a jumpsuit.
I am a man still fighting for my sanity and purpose. Through my incarceration I have learned a great deal about life, about knowing me, and about knowing Godโs love and mercy. I am currently serving a life sentence for taking justice into my own hands and upholding what they called the G Code. Because of that I missed many precious moments with my family. I have written more than fifty books. One of them, The Covenant, is available on Amazon KDP, and another, Letting Go and Living Life, is on the way. My hope is that it will stop someone from going down the same torn up road I did and give courage to anyone digging themselves into a hole. Know your worth, put down the shovel, and take my hand, letโs climb out together.
When I first came to prison I ran with gangs, something I was introduced to at 14. I ended up in close custody, supposed to stay six months but turning it into four and a half years. During that time I prayed every day for God to change my life. He gave me wisdom, knowledge, understanding, peace, and patience. A friend once bet me I could not write a book. That challenge changed my life. Since then I have written across genres including romance, erotica, urban, western, womenโs journals, horror, and fantasy. Writing became my gift, my therapy, and my way to connect.
Then I met someone who inspired me to publish The Covenant. I never received a dime from it, but I learned forgiveness. Letting Go and Living Life tells that story, how I had to forgive her and everyone who wronged me, which lifted a burden from my back. Now I sit in a high security cell with no windows. I cannot see the sky or the birds, but I still fight for my sanity. I just want to feel like I can steer my own ship, even if the ocean is made of concrete and razor wire.ย
I salute the Humans of San Quentin for seeing the good in us. I give my word, when Letting Go and Living Life is published, I will send you half of my first check and some copies. From my pain came my purpose, and from my truth, my rebirth. I am him. Nice to meet you.
