This opened the door for me to become vulnerable and ready for the long journey of transformation and rehabilitation that keeps me going even now.

This opened the door for me to become vulnerable and ready for the long journey of transformation and rehabilitation that keeps me going even now.

VOEG allowed me to meet a couple who have endured the pain I inflicted and yet they were able to see the goodness in me. This couple, Richard and Hilda McCline have become my aunt and uncle and are invested in my growth as much as I or anyone else has been, if not more. They were the only family members who stood by me when my mom passed 20 years ago. They helped me endure the loneliness and difficult times that ensued. In 2019, when I graduated from Patten College with my AA degree. It was my aunt and uncle who came to support and celebrate with me, my biggest accomplishment in life.

Two more people who have invested in my growth and healing are Katherin and Massimo, the directors of the documentary, The Prison Within, from the time we started filming until today,  they have been overly supportive and instrumental at helping me tell my story in hopes to promote healing, compassion, accountability and transformation. There are more people who’ve helped me along the way, if not for these beautiful individuals I would have never taken hold of my life, seeing the harm I’ve caused in so many, the goodness I have inside, nor the healing I can be a part of.
