The saying โhurt people hurt peopleโ can be true, but people who heal can help others heal, too.
I remember when I was a kid, my friends and I would cut the tops off soda bottles, tie balloons to the part you drink from, and shoot beans at each other. We called them bean shooters, our homemade version of a slingshot. Iโd sneak into the kitchen and fill my pockets with my momโs uncooked black-eyed peas, my ammo for the bean shooters, lol. One night, my mom went to cook and was confused and upset to find she only had a handful of black-eyed peas left. When she questioned me, I respectfully told her what her beans had been used for. That was the end of my bean shooting career. I was eight years old. On a more serious note, I made a lot of poor decisions throughout my teenage years, which led to my incarceration at 18. The saying โhurt people hurt peopleโ can be true, but people who heal can help others heal, too. Today, I stand here taking full accountability for my past mistakes. I recently published my first book, The Redeemable, available on Amazon. This marks the beginning of my healing journey. Now, Iโm willing to be vulnerable and say I need help, instead of hindering my growth by hiding my pain.
