What Humans of San Quentin did for me.
First, I need you to understand that I had no intention of writing a story. I only wanted to do a simple dish called Mac and Mak, which stands for mackerel and macaroni cheese, but I was asked to bring pictures of my family and if I wanted people to know more about me.
I did not think that what the Humans of San Quentin did would have such an impact on those I love very much. They allowed me to leave this place, if only for one moment. I experienced the joy I’ve always had towards my grandchildren and adult children.
What these wonderful people have done is to look at us men as people first and remind us what it is to be Human still. And that’s a lovely and wonderful thing. Thank you.
