I recently published my first book, “Day by Day: A Treasury of Hope and Victory,” now available on Amazon. Writing this book was more than simply becoming an author.

It is my attempt to give something meaningful back to the community and to make amends by sharing some of the reasons, hope and encouragement I have gained throughout my journey. I would be honored if you took the time to read it and share your thoughts. I truly believe its message can uplift, inspire and speak to the hearts of those who need hope, faith, perseverance and a reminder that victory is possible one day at a time.

My name is Shawn Davis. I am 34 years old by way of Sacramento, California. I have spent much of my life in the system from a very young age. I have been in and out of institutions, beginning with juvenile hall and group homes, then the California Youth Authority, county jails, and eventually state prisons. For as long as I can remember, I have known the reality of confinement. Yet through every challenge, setback and hardship, God was with me.

I was definitely a wild child and grew up surrounded by a great deal of dysfunction. Throughout my life, I have always been an ambitious and creative person with a vibrant personality, a big heart and a desire to make a positive impact. Unfortunately, I did not always know how to express those qualities in a healthy and productive way. It took time, growth and life experience for me to find my true self.

In addition to being an author, I am also a tattoo artist. If you would like to see my work, you can find me on Instagram at @soblessedink.

For many years it felt as though I was constantly facing impossible odds and fighting an uphill battle. Looking back now, I can clearly see that God was with me every step of the way. Today I am grateful for the opportunity to share that message with others and to encourage anyone who may be struggling to never give up hope, because even in our darkest moments, God is still at work.

I am a firm believer that if you want to reach people, you must be willing to speak their language. In other words, meet them where they are. This book is my attempt to present truth, hope and the love of God in a way that would have captured my attention and sparked my interest when I was the person I used to be.

“Day by Day: A Treasury of Hope and Victory” is filled with life-changing truths, powerful poetry, dramatic illustrations of art, and even moments of laughter with lighthearted jokes sure to bring a smile to your face. Inside you will find inspiring daily devotionals, each one rooted in the timeless truth of God’s word and written with a modern, down-to-earth delivery. Read it. I am sure you will love it.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to read this and learn about this project. I would love to hear from you. So reach out. Thank you. God Bless.
