The most profound change I’ve recognized in myself is my ability to break down the barriers that were instilled in me during my youth.
I began my journey in Atlanta, Georgia, after being arrested outside a venue where I was scheduled to perform on December 2, 2022. I go by the artist name Ruby Bel, and my music can be found on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, and more.
At the time of my arrest, I left behind two young children, a college education, an aspiring music career, and a hairstyling business. Nine transports later, and after a plane ride, I find myself in my current situation.
As I reflect on those nine transfers, I think about my growth—personally, spiritually, and academically. The most profound change I’ve recognized in myself is my ability to break down the barriers that were instilled in me during my youth. I’m now embracing life’s truths, many of which I’ve had to experience firsthand.
