I can remember when I was very young my mother made sure all of us even my sister played sports.
Every team we were on or most of them my mother coached. Mother instilled in us the importance of playing sports. If it was basketball season we were playing basketball, if it was baseball then we were playing baseball.
My mother also gathered all the boys on our block to play with us. My mother was right the discipline that came along with playing basketball helped me stay clear of jail.
Well it helped most of the kids stay out of jail it wasn’t until later in life did I go to jail. Basketball is very important for the black community. It gives us hope!
