“This is for the unknown victims”

This is for the unknown victims that I hurt.

This is for the unknown victims in the dirt.

This is for the unknown victims where bullets fly, humans die.

This is for the unknown victims that’s left with long lasting pain.

This is for the unknown victims that cried why? God why?

This is for the unknown women that felt they wasn’t strong enough.

This is for the unknown victims that stood together and shouted “U.N.I.T.Y!”

This is for the unknown victims white, black, brown, yellow, red, male, and female

we are all the same. If it happens to me, it can happen to you.

This is for the unknown victims that’s turning their pain, hurt, memories, and mess into their message.

This is for the unknown victims that continue to survive.

“No More Victims.”

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
