I am proud of the person I’ve become, and I’m committed to continuing my growth.

True change requires deep commitment, and true growth demands even more. Since my incarceration in 2011, I have worked hard to grow, both in my thinking and communication skills. During this time, I earned my high school diploma, completed various certifications, and am now on the verge of earning a certificate in business management.

I’ve come a long way, gaining knowledge from years of learning alongside others who inspire and challenge me. Without a grip on life, life will grip you. Asking questions often brings more wisdom than simply having answers. The past is history, the future is a mystery, and this moment is a gift—this is why it’s called the present. No one can take control of your path unless you let them. Coming together marks the beginning; staying together gives purpose, and working together leads to success.

No matter how much you’ve achieved, there is always more to strive for. I believe it’s better to be hated for who you truly are than to be loved for who you’re not. To become the person you want to be, you must focus on your strengths and what excites you. Define yourself—don’t let the world dictate who you are. I am proud of the person I’ve become, and I’m committed to continuing my growth. My goal is to take the success I’ve built here and bring it to the outside world to make a positive impact.
