I am a God-fearing Christian, and kindness, love, and forgiveness are among the top three of my signature strengths.

Most people call me “Red.” The sad part is that I got incarcerated in November of 2023. I took all of the classes that the Alabama Department of Corrections recommended and was granted parole on May 1st, 2024. During my time, I worked in the kitchen my first three months, then later got a paying job at the sewing factory. A lady who was formerly on death row for 23 ½ years taught me how to use a sewing machine. I am forever grateful to her and to God. That alone is just a prime example of God’s grace in action. I am a God-fearing Christian, and kindness, love, and forgiveness are among the top three of my signature strengths. I am a recovering addict, and once I was granted parole back in May of 2024, I went straight back to using and returned to the same environment. I was only out of prison for five months before getting picked up for failure to report and a new possession charge. I am back in prison, but God made a way for me to be transferred here to Montgomery Work Release. I have met some really amazing people here, and I am working on my sobriety, along with healing myself. I have a daughter named Alondra who lives in Tennessee with her dad, Gabriel, and it breaks my heart that I haven’t been able to see or talk to her since she was seven. But I believe God will restore all families. She will turn 11 in just a few more days. Here is a short poem for you! Thank you and God bless!

Through My Eyes
I see good intentions
I see repetition
I see sacrifices
I see it through my eyes

I see second chances
I see bad romances
I see another’s high
I see it through my eyes
I see life in a box
I have seen too many cell blocks
I see a whole lot
I see it through my eyes

I see this place
I see God’s grace
I see His face
I see it through my eyes
I see new hope
I see new spirit
I see new life
I see it through my eyes
