I can complain about this, that, and the other, but it does nothing without coming up with a solution.

My solution is to be thankful for every moment I have each day and night. How is it possible to be thankful? Easy. When I was on death row, I lost a few friends.

Some I got to say my goodbyes to. Some I did not. Either way, I felt lost. I am thankful that I got to meet those men in my short time on the row because they taught me a lot.

I am thankful for life, my aches and pains. I am thankful for every person who has helped me along my life journey. I do not worry about the sorrows anymore. I just look at the beauties God has blessed us with.Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts. P.S. If anyone wants to correspond, I will be happy to do so no matter what country you are from.

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
