Mary's Chicken Chow Mein
One of Mary's favorite recipes!
Ingredients
- 2 packages boneless chicken
- 1 bag bean sprouts
- 1 package noodles frozen
- 1 bag snow peas
- 1 can small water chestnuts
- 1 can small bamboo shoots
- 1 each ginger root
Instructions
- Cut the boneless chicken into bite-sized pieces. Flour chicken pieces in a separate plate with flour. Fry chicken pieces in a skillet or frying pan at medium heat until golden brown.
- Place fried chicken pieces in a large pot. Add four cups of water. Cook at medium heat on burner on stove.
- Cut noodles in half. Fry noodle halves in a skillet or frying pan at medium heat until golden brown. Add fried noodles to large pot.
- Add bean sprouts to large pot.
- Add snow peas to large pot.
- Add water chestnuts to large pot.
- Add bamboo shoots to large pot.
- Slice ginger root into small slices and add to large pot. (Too much ginger root will spoil the taste.)
- Add 3 cups of water to the large pot. Stir with a long-handled spoon.
- Simmer 40 minutes at medium heat.
