I look forward to not just training dogs, but teaching people through an academy how to do it themselves. I am a country boy with a military background. As you can see from the picture, I am also a dog trainer/handler.

Even though this dog is being trained in a prison program, I am certified on the streets to train dogs in obedience training, service dog, search and rescue, K9, even military and law enforcement dogs. Right now I’m working on starting a service dog training program in this prison I’m in now, trying to get the outside support that would like to see a service dog training program started at this prison. I love the outdoors, country music, working on starting a business and a nonprofit. I am big on keeping myself healthy and in shape. I also would like to thank you for the service that you bring to the inmates nationwide. Please keep up the good work.

I have four kids, three boys and a girl, and it’s sad because I don’t know them. It hurts, you know, but at the same time they gave me the strength to be a better person, and maybe one day I get out and be able to meet them. My kids are one of the reasons I stay out of trouble. I still have hope to be part of their life.

All these 17 years I have been alone and it would be nice to hear from someone. Take care and God bless you.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
