They give me so much strength to get through anything, knowing Iโ€™ll get to see them again. I love them all with all of my heart.

Getting the chance to see my grandchildren was something I waited for. I wanted them to be old enough to start asking questions about me, so they could feel comfortable coming to see me. I know itโ€™s a lot of pressure for a young child to enter a prisonโ€”itโ€™s a whole different world for them.

My oldest granddaughter, now 17, asked about seeing me, and on April 6, 2022, I got to see three of them for the first time. It was an amazing feeling to see them in person. My oldest granddaughter sure looks like her mother.

Then, on December 23, 2024, I got to see the rest of my grandkids all together for the first time. I told my youngest granddaughter, who is six, that it was the best day ever. My daughter brings them all up here, and her husband comes sometimes. They visit during family events in the visiting room, where we can interact, go on scavenger hunts, play games, and eat snacks together.

Itโ€™s great just being around themโ€”it puts your mind in a different world, almost forgetting youโ€™re in prison. They all mean the world to me. Itโ€™s a great honor to have them in my life. They give me so much strength to get through anything, knowing Iโ€™ll get to see them again. I love them all with all of my heart.
