Thank God for the Humans of San Quentin.

As we begin this new year,
I want you to know all is not lost.
The impact here is strange,
but the progress has a name.
It’s bigger than a powerful belief,
like a newborn baby in a pregnancy of mystery.
The opportunity is movement.

To be seen, heard, and valued!
Passion is the fire that burns to be connected.
A letter fuels it…
A picture sparks it…
And an unwavering drive supports it.
I pray the team never gives up on us!

We need you,
Sincerely,
Michael

The mysteries and wonders of life
are never known until we find ourselves in existence.
No one understands a peace so disturbed
except a survivor of the struggle who dares to share.

Just one step can spark the light of hope!
Another step finds two sides to the story,
a vision of intense pain and temporary joy.
Then, suddenly, when all seems lost,
encouraging words appear before you.
Something that doesn’t seem like much when times are rough,
Somehow, you realize you’re not alone.
Because the spotlight was never the reputation you put on.
It’s the one who pulls together the team when you need it most.

Thank God for the Humans of San Quentin.

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
