I feel blessed and privileged to see 12 inside guys play the Golden State Warriors and entertain 2,000 guys in here. People don’t think we have the capacity.

Today, I can feel the joy and I can see the excitement on the players faces. Things are a lot different here than they were in the 70’s and 80’s. San Quentin doesn’t have the reputation for being dangerous killers, anymore.

Today it’s the Golden State Warriors coming in and playing against us.

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
