I’m sure you hear how taffy is made.

Well, I’ll get a bag of Jolly Ranchers and melt it down to liquid and I pour it in a bottle I can squeeze it out of like a big eye dropper.

So hot.. so I take nice chunk of taffy and take a toothbrush and make a hole in middle, widen it some, then  squeeze the Jolly Rancher candy liquid in the hole and  squeeze it shut and boom!

Jolly Rancher Taffy Poppers

Jolly Rancher Taffy Poppers

Ben | San Quentin State Prison
I’m sure you hear how taffy is made. Well, I'll get a bag of Jolly Ranchers and melt it down to liquid and I pour it in a bottle I can squeeze it out of like a big eye dropper.
Servings 10 poppers

Ingredients

  • 3-.23 oz. packets Kool-Aid Drink Mix any flavor
  • 2 ¼ cups powdered coffee creamer
  • 5 teaspoons water
  • 12 Jolly Rancher hard candies any flavor

Instructions

  • First make prison taffy: mix the Kool-Aid, creamer and water in a plastic zip-top bag. Knead the taffy in the bag until it’s fully mixed, then set aside.
  • Melt the jolly ranchers in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Watch the candy carefully so it doesn’t burn.
  • In the meantime, knead the taffy again to fully incorporate, then divide into 10 balls. Press your finger or the end of a spoon into the top of each ball of taffy to make an indentation for the candy.
  • Spoon about ½ teaspoon of melted candy into each indentation, taking care not to touch the hot candy with your bare hands.
  • Working quickly, pull the sides of the taffy up and around the toffee and roll between your hands to make a smooth ball with a candy center. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

Editor’s notes:
  • If the candy begins to harden while you’re making these, warm it again slightly over low heat.
