Today we are proud to feature Jose, who has been corresponding with Humans of San Quentin since 2022. Incarcerated for 34 years, Jose has dedicated his time to personal growth, education, and helping others find purpose amid adversity.ย 

A native of Washington Heights, New York City, Jose holds a degree in Behavioral Science from Mercy University and is currently pursuing advanced studies in the field. He is a dedicated motivational speaker and peer mentor committed to empowering others. Jose is also a patent-pending inventor and an emerging entrepreneur whose resilience and determination continue to inspire those around him.

His book, Caged Cowboy: A Redemption Story, chronicles his journey of transformation behind prison walls.

Through it, he explores how education, self-discipline, and inner strength can lead to redemption and hope even in the midst of violence and despair.

He wrote this book to share the lessons heโ€™s learned and to show that change is possible, no matter where one begins.
