Iโ€™m committed to turning my life around and contributing to society in a meaningful way. Your support means a great deal to me, and I hope you see the sincerity of my efforts.

As I sit here at 30, reflecting on my life, I canโ€™t help but think about how much of it was driven by the desire to impress others. Growing up, I constantly sought approval, especially from my older brother and cousin, often going to great lengths to earn it. I vividly remember in third grade, joining sports teams not just out of love for the game, but as a way to escape my reality. I found joy in practicing basketball every day after school at my neighbor’s court, hoping to improve. One day, while I was playing, my brother and cousin were smoking in front of my house. They saw me and began mocking me, eventually encouraging me to join them and smoke as well. Eager to impress them, I gave in.

That night, I threw away my football, soccer ball, and basketball in the trash. That moment marked a turning point in my life. Do I harbor resentment toward my brother or cousin for influencing my choices? No. When I look back, I realize we were all victims of our circumstances, misguided by our youth.

Iโ€™ve included a couple of pictures of my wife and me since I donโ€™t have any of just myself. Right now, Iโ€™m awaiting a transfer, though it looks like it will take a couple of months. Iโ€™ll be going to Corcoran for the step-down program, which is a positive step in showing the board Iโ€™m serious about leaving gang life behind. Iโ€™m actively educating myself and reaching out to various programs, but you, Diane, and HoSQ are the only ones who have responded, and Iโ€™m truly grateful for that. I deeply appreciate what your program represents. Iโ€™m committed to turning my life around and contributing to society in a meaningful way. Your support means a great deal to me, and I hope you see the sincerity of my efforts. As I continue on this journey of rehabilitation, you will have 100% of my efforts. Thank you so much, Diane!
