I’m committed to real change, walking by faith and not by sight. I’m a strong-minded, loyal person who loves R&B music, and I’m waiting for the day I can go home and fully live the change I’ve worked for.

I’ve been carrying a lot of grief since 2017 when my mother passed away. My mother was a strong figure in my life, and I miss her inspiring words, her cooking, and her smile. Then last year, in 2023, I lost my little brother—on my birthday. Losing him has felt like losing a part of myself; I can’t fully describe my sorrow.

At 46, I’m working to turn my losses into growth. I’m having the tattoos removed from my face, and I’m focused on furthering my education because I want a better life, with the love of a family of my own. I want to belong. I’ve been working on improving my behavior, admitting to the mistakes I made in the past, including my involvement in gang culture.

I also graduated and am a certified counselor and mentor. I’m committed to real change, walking by faith and not by sight. I’m a strong-minded, loyal person who loves R&B music, and I’m waiting for the day I can go home and fully live the change I’ve worked for.

Yours truly,

Gerald
