Iโve been an illustrator and artist since I was five. I was born and raised in San Diego, California.
As a child and teenager, I focused mostly on illustration, especially during my time at Montgomery Middle School and Kearny High. While incarcerated, I discovered I had a real gift for drawing portraits, human faces, the body, and landscapes. Then, in late December 2022, right here at San Quentin, I learned how to paint.
I decided to give back to society and my community to begin restoring the harm caused by my addictions, criminal actions, and past decisions by painting for events, self-help groups, and the people of San Quentin, both inside and out. I realize art is more than just art. Iโm committed to using it to support people, stand up for human rights, and reach the youth. After incarceration, I realized that art is my true talent, something Iโve continued to learn and master in prison.
