Humans Write

To save Human Life
Out of concern for Human Rights
And to end Human Plight
Whether wrong or right
Your words, penciled, penned or typed
Keep Human spirits bright.
Humans Write
To a condemned life
During dark days and nights
From a single cell, by prison light
They reply to pen-pal kites.
This Human Writes
In permanent ink, words of my plight
My burdens, my joy, my strife
And the appreciation of Human Writing.

These stories arrive by mail.

Every month, a physical envelope arrives at your door, postmarked from San Quentin Village, California. Inside, you will find original artwork, writing, and recipes from real contributors, along with a personal letter from me, Diane Kahn, founder of Humans of San Quentin, about the people who made them. You read it. You keep it.

Every piece comes from someone serving a sentence. Every piece reminds you they are so much more than that.
