I am thankful to all who made this day possible, but all the glory to God who put the desire and strength inside to make all things work for the good.
I am a mother of five grown-ups with several grandchildren. Iโm in my 4th year of my life with the possibility of parole sentence for first degree arson. Itโs Juneteenth, happy freedom day! I am thankful to all who made this day possible, but all the glory to God who put the desire and strength inside to make all things work for the good. He knew today I would need some of the most influential women around me. Itโs necessary inside these prison walls to build each other up. Trust me, there are many that will try to tear you down. I am not sure where to start, so I will just tell you about where I am today. Well, you know why I am here, and yes, there is a lot of back history, but for now Iโll say this: I was an addict, and now I am not. Since my arrest, I have been sober. My mind has been restored, relationships have been restored (some), and I am doing well. I have been to Tutwiler Prison, where I worked at the sewing factory for over a year. I am excited. I know how to use a sewing machine. After being married five times, my future husband will be a very happy man. Hell, thatโs crazy to think about. I went to programs with lots of classes, and the benefits were great for parole and life skills. I also worked in the kitchen and learned to crochet (love it). Here, I also work in the kitchen. The morning shift starts at two am and gives me purpose. I can order yarn here and recently have been blessed by my (well, I call him my future husband) to do so, along with the help of my first love, my oldest son Michael. My future husband (lol) I have known this man for 30 years, and he isโฆ well, I am grateful for Steven. My girlfriend Jennifer is truly amazing. Wordsโฆ well, there are many, but amazing will do for now. I am blessed. My daughter Little has been a soldier thus far, and she holds it down. The Bible says there is a time for everything under the sun. I have experienced most. The before and now, well, the four years before I got my charge and up to now, I would say: A time for war. A time for peace. Lately, it has been crazy in my mind, like a flip a gram back in those times. Thatโs where I am at. I will leave you with a poem I wrote back in the early days. Hope to hear from yโall soon.
TAKE THAT
To be or not to be
Is there an answer to that
If you go, you will be there
Where are you at
Is the grass greener on the other side
When you have taken enough to take a ride
Oh yeah thatโs so pretty and nice
At least you got it right when I asked you twice
All this just makes me want to cry
Take the good with the bad just say goodbye
Whatever will be will be
And the blind man’s answer
I see
