I love horses. I love taking care of horses, from domesticating and training them to shoeing them. I am my own veterinarian. I keep a high standard for show horses like Andalusians imported from Friesians. Horses, shoes, and care are extremely expensive, especially when they have proper pedigrees. Free like angels, horses can take it all in. Make a horse obey and it will give you love. Horses are like children; they give love back if you treat them with kindness, pride, and care, if you wash them and treat them like a pet and a best friend.
As a child, I grew up working with horses and cattle and loved ranch life. Even though it is a lot of work, responsibility, and an expensive sport, I love it.
I trained my horse to dance Baile de Caballo when he was about two years old. I started by gradually lifting his feet to the rhythm of the music, teaching him to move in a collected way to the sound of Banda or Mariachi. It is an art passed down to Mexicans from Spain. They are the number one horsemen in the world, from the Royal School of Vienna in Spain. That is why I love horses; it is our heritage, tradition, and culture passed down through generations.
In Mexico, my dad was a real cattleman. I grew up on a cattle ranch, working milking cows, feeding them, and making cheese, just like in High Chaparral. I am a member of the Charros Association. I rode in parades in Los Angeles, Pico Rivera, and Las Vegas at South Point. I would get paid, hang out, and meet Mexican celebrities like John Sebastian, Ezequiel Peรฑa, and others.
